BELARUS - The Belarusian flag is made up of a large horizontal red stripe two times the size of a horizontal green stripe that rests directly below, occupying the lower third of the flag. On the left hoist side is a slender vertical white stripe which boasts a red diamond shaped pattern descending from top to bottom. Adopted in 1995, the red stripe symbolizes the blood of the nation’s defenders, while the green stripe represents the hope of the country’s future.
